Build to Last

Build to Last

Day 3

.Some things were not meant to last forever

Today it was my brown wool cropped pants turn to be pulled from the closet rack

Can’t remember where and when did I buy them but I must have had them for at least 10 years. And they look brand new

?Granted, I didn’t wear it a lot. Unless you are in some Nora Ephron NYC fall scene – where will you go with a well tailored brown wool pants

But still

Good quality, no doubt

100% wool . Not the itchy kind. The soft and airy one. The lining is made of 100% cupro rayon, a fabric made from recycled cotton that is cool and soft. I’m so excited. there you go, I think to myself

Fabric is everything

I’m pairing it with a comme il faut t-shirt. It’s brown, dotted with tiny blue and yellow flowers. This one I must have worn hundreds of times. And here it is – 15 years later – looks almost new

I’m turning the shirt to look at the label. and then I see it

100% Polyester

I don’t understand. it’s soft. it’s comfy. it’s beautiful. My heart is broken

After a few hours, I forget all about my little research and turn to the mirror. The shirt still looks nice. Not sure I love it. It’s still brown. But it’s nice. The pants however – only now I am free to look beyond the labels. And then it hits me

!!!It’s cropped pants

I look short and chubby

And it’s brown

?What did I want

To be Sally. Maybe for just one second – cool and funny and with a Harry on my side

?Miswanting

Not sure about the cool and funny part but the Harry was there all along, I just didn’t realized it yet

?So

The pants are great. It will last another 10 years easily. But not in my closet. And the shirt? Hey… no one sees the label anyways. it stays

In – 1

Out – 1

In the inside, right above the hem on the left pant – 2 buttons hiding, waiting to be found
